How to Deal with Unsupportive Family and Friends

Yesterday’s call was all about how to deal with unsupportive family and friends, when you have a business and ADHD. Here’s what Brenda had to say about this call:

“Phenomenal call! Your calls are what help me more than anything — to know that someone understands me, even if I don’t remember all of the strategies. You guys help me keep my sanity.”

Marcia and I covered lots of points, including these listed below. As always, Marcia shared her tips as a business coach and as someone who fairly recently discovered she has ADHD. My tips and suggestions come from my years of coaching ADHD adults, and the solutions I found worked for my dyslexic brain.

We gave you tips on:

  • How separate what other people think you should do from what you know is right for you.
  • How to ignore unsupportive family and friends so they don’t affect your business.
  • What you should do if family members aren’t supportive of your ADHD diagnosis.
  • How to keep clear boundaries around your time. Just because you work for yourself, doesn’t mean you don’t work!
  • How to keep good relationships when you work with one or more members of your family.

You asked for this topic!

This topic came out of your comments from our recent ADHD and Business Survey — we thought it was a great topic idea!

We will be back December 3 with another great program. Why not invite a friend to listen?

Wishing you a wonderful week! And if you’re celebrating Thanksgiving this week, Happy Thanksgiving!

Warmly,
Jacqui and Marcia
